Rahal, Hinchcliffe Star for Honda in Grand Prix of Indianapolis Qualifying

·       Rahal qualifies third, career-best start on the Indianapolis road course

·       Hinchcliffe to start fourth, first “Fast Six” appearance of 2016

·       Hawksworth also makes the “Fast Six” final shootout for the first time in 2016

Graham Rahal and James Hinchcliffe produced season-best efforts Friday in Verizon IndyCar Series qualifying on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course, and will start third and fourth, respectively in Saturday’s Angie’s List Grand Prix of Indianapolis.

Both Rahal and Hinchcliffe advanced through the first two rounds of “knockout” qualifying to take part in the “Fast Six” shootout for the first time in 2016, and enjoyed career-best qualifying results on the 2.439-mile Indy road circuit.  Jack Hawksworth rounded out the top six for Honda and A.J. Foyt Racing, while Hinchcliffe’s Schmidt Peterson Motorsports teammate, Mikahil Aleshin, will start 11th in his best qualifying performance of the season.

The third annual Angie’s List Grand Prix of Indianapolis, precursor to the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 on May 29, starts Saturday at 3:30 p.m. EDT, with live network television coverage on ABC.

Graham Rahal (#15 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing Honda):  “I gave it all I had, and this [start from third on the grid] is a great result for the entire Stean ‘n Shake team and Honda.  Everyone has been working incredibly hard from the start of the season, and this [will be] the best start we’ve had in a long time.  It’s something we can work with, for sure.  Tomorrow will be a big day for us, but I think we can go get them in the race.”
