SONOMA, California (April 17, 2022) – Ashton Harrison and Mario Farnbacher powered their Racers Edge Motorsports Acura NSX GT3 Evo22 to a podium finish in the Pro/Am class during Sunday’s race in the season-opening double header SRO Fanatec World Challenge America at Sonoma Raceway; while RealTime Racing made its return to SRO racing this weekend, highlighted by a sixth-place Pro/Am result on Sunday for drivers Michael Cooper and Erin Vogel.
Vogel and HPD Academy graduate Harrison qualified 18th and 19th overall on Saturday, and both drivers made up ground quickly in the opening race. After an hour of the 90-minute contest, each had advanced seven positions. With just seven minutes remaining, HPD Factory Driver Farnbacher passed Cooper, as the Racers Edge and RealTime Acura’s finished in 6th and 7th in the Pro/Am class in the opener.
Farnbacher performed well in the second qualifying session, powering the Racers Edge Motorsports NSX GT3 to a best time of 1:49.342 and placing them near the top of the grid for Sunday’s race. But about 16 minutes into the race, Giacomo Altoè squeezed through the inside of Turn 9, forcing Farnbacher off track and onto the grass, losing three positions as he recovered. Once back on the circuit, Farnbacher and Harrison continued their strong run, finishing Sunday’s race second in the Pro/Am class. In the RealTime Acura, Cooper and Vogel continued to improve, finishing sixth in Pro/Am on Sunday.
The Acura NSX GT3 teams will head to Ozarks International Raceway in southwestern Missouri for Rounds 3 & 4 on May 20-22.
